🌱 Growing Kindness: UMOK at the Doolittle Community Garden – May 10, 2025 🌱

On Saturday, May 10, 2025, United Movement Organized Kindness (UMOK) had the privilege of participating in a very special 30th Anniversary Celebration at the Doolittle Community Garden, located at 1200 Blankenship Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89106. This event was more than just a pop-up—it was a heartfelt celebration of history, growth, and the power of community.

Hosted in partnership with the Doolittle Active Adult Center and the City of Las Vegas, this Neighborhood Appreciation Event honored the beauty and resilience of the surrounding community. Residents came together to tour the garden, enjoy refreshments, and reconnect with one another in a space that has been cultivated with love for three decades.

UMOK showed up with purpose—distributing essential goods to support 179 individuals across 60 families. Thanks to our incredible volunteers and supporters, we were able to provide:

• 🧼 Home cleaning supplies

• 🛍️ Other essential household items

• ❤️ Encouragement and support

Many attendees were residents of the 89106 area—our data shows it remains one of the most actively engaged communities during our pop-ups. From families of two to households of ten, the turnout was diverse and deeply inspiring.

We’d like to give special thanks to Assemblywoman Shondra Summers-Armstrong for her continued advocacy and presence. Her support for grassroots efforts and community-led action has been a guiding light, reminding us of the importance of showing up for our neighbors with love and purpose.

We also extend heartfelt gratitude to the women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., whose grace, leadership, and helping hands made the day even more impactful. Your commitment to service and sisterhood added a vibrant spirit to the event, and we are so grateful for your partnership.

This event reminded us that impact doesn’t always come from grand gestures—it grows from the ground up, just like a garden. It’s in the small moments: a smile over a shared snack, a kind word exchanged between neighbors, and the joy of receiving a much-needed item with no strings attached.
