The UNLV Basic Needs Program (BNP) sincerely appreciates the continued partnership with UMOK. Over the past two years, UMOK has donated essential items such as food, hygiene products, bedding, and school supplies. These contributions have significantly enhanced our ability to support students facing basic needs insecurities.

BNP is committed to empowering students by connecting them to necessary resources and providing guidance and referrals. UMOK has been instrumental in broadening the scope and reach of our program’s services.

Impact of UMOK Donations

Since its inception in 2019, the Basic Needs Program has worked to address the concerning statistic that nearly 50% of UNLV students experience at least one form of basic needs insecurity. One of our key initiatives, Take What You Need (TWYN), is a monthly event offering students access to vital supplies like food, hygiene products, clothing, and school materials.

Thanks to UMOK’s generous and ongoing donations, BNP has been able to:

  • Host increasingly attended TWYN events

  • Offer weekly access to basic necessities at our office

  • Provide expanded support including housing referrals and other critical resources

UMOK’s contributions have directly enabled us to maintain stock and meet the rising demand, ensuring students can remain focused on their academic goals.

Looking Ahead

BNP continues to foster a culture where seeking support is normalized and accessible. With partners like UMOK, we are breaking down stigmas and building a stronger network of care for students.

As we look toward the future, the Basic Needs Program remains committed to:

  • Strengthening campus and community partnerships

  • Expanding access to resources

  • Empowering students to achieve academic success without the weight of unmet basic needs

Thank You, UMOK! Your generosity and commitment have given our students the tools and encouragement they need to stay focused, stay enrolled, and graduate.
