On a mission to break down barriers to employment and create real opportunities, Foundation for Recovery, United Movement Organized Kindness (UMOK), and The Way Foundation joined forces to provide forklift certification and OSHA 10 safety training for 20 individuals in our community.

This powerful collaboration brought together three organizations, each contributing a vital piece to make the program possible:

  • Foundation for Recovery covered the instructor and training costs, ensuring participants received professional, high-quality instruction.

  • UMOK provided the training space and forklift equipment, creating a hands-on learning environment.

  • The Way Foundation, led by Moses, provided transportation between locations, making sure every participant could access the training without barriers.

Breaking Down Barriers to Employment

Forklift certification and OSHA 10 training are more than just credentials — they are in-demand qualifications that open the door to opportunities in warehousing, logistics, manufacturing, and construction. By providing this program free of charge, the three nonprofits eliminated financial and transportation challenges that often prevent people from obtaining these certifications.

A Win for Individuals and the Workforce

The 20 newly certified individuals are now ready to enter the workforce with skills that make them more competitive job candidates. At the same time, local employers benefit from having qualified, OSHA-trained forklift operators available to fill critical roles.

One participant summed it up best: “I never thought I’d be able to get both of these certifications without paying out of pocket. This changes the kinds of jobs I can apply for.”

Collaboration Creates Change

This project is a testament to the power of partnership. Without the contributions of Foundation for Recovery, UMOK, and The Way Foundation, this life-changing opportunity would not have been possible.

Moving forward, these three organizations are committed to exploring more workforce development programs, giving even more community members the tools and training they need to succeed.
